DIGGERS TEE WHITE

Where shall we start with this one?

So, at some point I was curious about legendary barefoot producer Rick Rubin’s career, founder of Def Jam records. I was very amused by the funeral he held for the word “Def” in 1993, after it got introduced in the dictionary, taking it de facto outside of the underground territory. This pastiche of a funeral was inspired by a happening form 1968 where the Diggers a hippie theater group held a ceremony for “the death of hippie”, after the movement got over documented by the media. I dug a little deeper in this rabbit hole and looked up the Diggers, and read that their name was inspired by some anticonformist farmers in medieval England who were basically refusing the ideas of private property and believed in an egalitarian model of society. One of the bases of their beliefs is this verse from Acts:

“Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common.”

Who thought you could find commie ideology in the Bible!

Anyway, look them up, pretty far out lore.
